About Kids Love Math
Kids Love Math started at home. We wanted our daughter to practice the column arithmetic she was learning at school, on a tablet, without games or distractions getting in the way. Nothing quite fit, so we built it.
What we believe
- Practice makes perfect. Understanding a method in class is the first step; using it quickly and accurately takes practice.
- Calm helps. One problem at a time, large digits, no timers and no flashing rewards.
- Written as on paper. Numbers sit in columns on squared paper, so place value is always in sight.
- For every family. Practicing is free, in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Portuguese.
The details
The digits use Andika, a typeface SIL designed for children learning to read, with a plain zero and digits shaped the way children learn to write them. Problems are made on the device itself, so practice keeps going even on a weak connection.
